29 July 2025 - The word "warp" is not just a verb to describe an action or an adjective to modify a noun. It can also be a noun itself. Among its various meanings are: "a mental twist, bias, or quirk, or a biased or twisted attitude or judgment" or "a situation or environment that seems characteristic of another era, especially in being out of touch with contemporary life or attitudes."
Defined in this way, warp is all around us. So how do we move toward order when chaos seems to engulf us, when we need to "work through the warp"?
See the beauty in who you are and what you are doing, and see it today! Even if you aren't exactly where you want to be, you are created in the image of God and can still find joy.
Your divine gifts and talents may look or feel useless but they are part of God's grand design and pattern. You have something to share to add to His divine tapestry.
The phrase "Comparison is the thief of joy" is attributed to President Theodore Roosevelt. Wishing you were like someone else with their opportunities is definitely a warp - a twisted attitude. We can appreciate others' contributions without thinking we need to do the same.
Patterns emerge with repetition. What patterns are you creating in your life that may need to be adjusted?
Be open to change, to create new patterns when spiritual or emotional plates shift. We don't and probably shouldn't remain the same as we strive to become what God has ordained us to be.
Don't let life's hike overwhelm you. See the beauty in the warp and keep pressing on.
So until next time, always keep your eye on the One that loves you most. Ciao!
